Paul D. Henry Elementary School has
a well rounded curriculum in place, which is designed to meet the
need of the school's curriculum. We also offer Title I Reading and
Math services and have a Special Education Program, including a
3 and 4 year old Developmentally Delayed Program as well. The delivery
of instruction is designed to meet the needs of all students based
on the Standards for Excellence and Competency Framework as established
by the State of New Mexico and local curriculum guidelines. The
Follow Through School Effectiveness Direct Instruction approach
is based upon a philosophy which stresses the development of strong,
basic academic skills in students. The program features high degrees
of structure and interaction, hands-on experiences, extending and
applying reading skills of primary grade level students to include
novels, and trade books, a home reading program, small group instruction,
bilingual component and the training of teachers and paraprofessionals.
The model includes four (4) essential components: Instructional
Materials and Teacher Behaviors, Authentic Literacy Experiences,
Peer Mediated Instruction and Progress Monitoring.
We will continue to implement the highly successful Follow Through
School Effectiveness model at all grade levels. |
