POSITION: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST (FTE 0.5)

REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education – Immediate Supervisor
Superintendent – General Supervisor
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Performs psychological evaluations of referred students with disabilities or those suspected of having a disability. Determines & implements direct therapy appropriately based on locally assessed needs.
Follows ethical and legal standards of the educational disciplinary profession.
BASIC MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum Level 2 Licensure or Level 3 Licensure (Level 3 Preferred)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
NM Licensed Master’s Degree or Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, School Psychology or Independent Level Licensure.
KNOWLEDGE/TECHNICAL SKILLS/ABILITIES (KSA’S):
Demonstrates competency & knowledge of the profession. Implements the requirements outlined in the NM Technical Evaluation & Assessment Manual (NM TEAM). Follows & complies with established district, state, federal policies and procedures for students with disabilities as required by IDEA and NMAC. Demonstrates good judgment in related to students, parents and staff. Establishes & maintains effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff. Demonstrates excellent written, verbal communication skills, interpersonal and technological skills. Meets timelines.
RESOURCES USED IN PERFORMING JOB INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO):
Standard office equipment. Testing Materials.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
All functions are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, safety and environmental regulations, facility and computer security policies and procedures. Functions are subject to change from time to time to meet the needs of the district. Current essential functions include the following:
1. Comply with the state approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and uphold and enforce department/unit rules, administrative directives and regulations, Board Policy, and State and Federal regulations.
2. Administers psychological assessments of referred students.
3. Interprets & provides a written report of assessment results to parents and consults IEP team.
4. Develops appropriate IEP goals & objectives. Including, present levels of functional performance.
5. Provides direct clinical counseling services/therapy services in a timely manner as outlined in IEP schedule of services page.
6. Maintains accurate therapy records /logs & submits documentation in SSG Maxcapture on a regular basis.
7. Oversees FBA & BIP process regarding appropriate educational and/or behavioral interventions to address the individual student’s needs.
8. Collaborates with classroom teachers, parents and other school staff members to implement services and design behavioral interventions in the classroom setting.
9. Provides consultation, clinical supervision, and case management with social workers and elementary counselors at regularly scheduled supervision meetings.
10. Perform other tasks as deemed appropriate and necessary by the administrator.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As approved by the Superintendent
SALARY: As per district salary schedule
EVALUATION: Performance of the job will be conducted by the Director of Special Education
