POSITION: Elective Teacher

DATE OF POSTING: October 1, 2024

REPORTS TO: School Principal – Immediate Supervisor
Superintendent – General Supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Valid New Mexico Public Education Department teaching license with required endorsements
2. Demonstrates cooperativeness and a willingness to carry-out assigned tasks and performance responsibility

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Comply with the state approved Code of Ethics of the Education Profession and uphold and enforce department/unit rules, administrative directives and regulations, Board Policy, and State and Federal regulations.
2. Teach Elective courses to students utilizing the standards and benchmarks and Common Core Standards in the approved curriculum.
3. Instruct students in citizenship, expected student behavior, and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the Las Vegas City Schools district.
4. Develop lesson plans and unit plans to address any strategies/interventions to meet the standards/ benchmarks in the curriculum.
5. Provide opportunities when needed for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
6. Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
7. Evaluate each student’s progress.
8. Select and requisition books, instructional aids and instructional supplies; and maintain required inventory records.
9. Communicate with parents on student’s progress and behavior.
10. Identify student needs, and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
11. Supervise students in and out of classroom activities as assigned.
12. Participate in curriculum alignment, benchmarks, performance standards/assessments and revisions.
13. Gather data in order to develop strategies for student improvement.
14. Share in the sponsorship of student activities to include in and out of school activities and participates in faculty committees as outlined in board policy.
15. Maintain professional competencies through in-service education activities provided by the district, and in self-selected or assigned professional growth activities.
16. Administer group standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
17. Must be technology literate.
18. Provide directions and material for substitute teachers.
19. Safeguard the confidentiality of privileged information.
20. Understand and participate in the development, use, and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and individualized transition plans/504 plans, including making necessary modifications.
21. Perform other tasks as deemed appropriate and necessary by the administrator.

SALARY: As per district salary schedule

EVALUATION: Performance evaluation will be conducted by the Principal
